About CIF San Diego Section

The Mission
The CIF-San Diego Section is committed to preparing boys and girls for a better tomorrow and to working with parents, educators, and the community to establish and to maintain excellent high school athletic programs that teach values, character, and citizenship.

The Vision
The CIF-San Diego Section encourages and assists high school students, through participation in interscholastic athletics, to develop and strengthen values, attitudes, and skills that will promote their personal growth as individuals and as members of a diverse society.

The Members
The CIF-San Diego Section is a voluntary association of public, private, and parochial high schools. The Board of Managers is the governing body. The members of the Board are public school superintendents and private school representatives of 29 school districts and 113 high schools.

The Playoffs
The CIF-San Diego Section administers and conducts varsity-level championship playoffs in 22 sports for the boys and girls attending our member schools.

The Community
The CIF-San Diego Section serves all of San Diego County and parts of Imperial County and Riverside County. With over three million people residing in rural, urban, and suburban areas, this multi-ethnic region is diverse in its wide range of social and economic conditions and opportunities. San Diego, the largest city, is the hub of a dynamic and growing economy consisting of a variety of businesses, tourist activities, and armed services installations. In a temperate climate that averages 70 degrees year round, the environment provides numerous opportunities for ocean, desert, and mountain sports and recreation. The CIF-San Diego Section promotes Equal Opportunities for all youth regardless of race, religion, gender, and national origin or sexual orientation.

The Office
The CIF-San Diego Section office staff includes the commissioner, the assistant commissioner, the executive secretary, and the financial secretary. Many volunteers who are retired administrators, athletic directors, and coaches, help coordinate the activities of the CIFSDS.
